Romania beat the British gymnastics team in a friendly competition at Lilleshall earlier today.

One of my favourite Romanian gymnasts, Raluca Haidu, came fourth in the all around.

The NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Committee is recommending changes to the championship format and the scoring system to make the sport more appealing to spectators and television.

The committee recommends that the ‘super six’ team final should change to a ‘four-on-the-floor’ formatm which will make the competition shorter and therefore, easier to broadcast live.

It also recommends that all six scores should count on every piece of apparatus. Currently six gymnasts compete on each apparatus and the highest five count towards the team total.

City of Liverpool gymnast, Alex Cooper, won the British Espoir championships on 7 June. Venus Romaeo of Cardiff Central was second and Amy Sharp of Bristol Hawks came third.
